Since the new serial Pam 372s come with sapphire crystals instead of plexi, I was curious if the prior 372s could be retrofitted. Went to the Panerai website and chatted online with them regarding this. I’m looking at purchasing a second Panerai and have decided on the PAM720. My only disappointment is that it comes with plexiglass and not sapphire crystal. I understand that the 720 comes with a spare. Can anyone confirm if this spare is also plexiglass? The old crystal suddenly developed a "cloudy" ring around the edge of the crystal (looked more like super glue than moisture). I recently read that there is a version of the 372 that was released about last August with a sapphire crystal but then read that the Panerai catalog still says plexiglass. Does anyone know for sure if there is a 372-S Panerai?

They do give you a replacement crystal if the original is scratched beyond repair. I have knicked mine and easily buffed out the scuff with toothpaste.
